Spencer Steer hit a foul ball directly to one unlikely fan

Spencer Steer contributed to a pretty awesome coincidence during Friday’s game between the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Reds outfielder hit a fourth-inning foul ball that ended up right in the hands of his fraternal twin brother Trevor. The Steer family hails from Southern California, so a number of family members were in attendance for what turned out to be a 7-3 Cincinnati loss.

“It was coming right back at me,” Trevor Steer said, via Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. “I was like, ‘I’ve got to do something.’ It was pretty wild.”

The catch got Trevor booed by Dodgers fans, but he did not mind. He said he gave the ball to his grandmother because she was less likely to lose it, and offered some advice to Spencer for the future.

“I’m going to say, ‘Next time hit it over the outfield wall,'” Trevor said.

It is a pretty cool story for the Steer family. However, they have some work to do when it comes to matching the most unlikely foul ball event of the season so far.
